Synopsis
--
Stay. Stay with me. Stay here. Stay close. Stay like this forever. Stay as happy as I am right here in your arms, always.
*        *        *
All I’ve ever wanted was to be loved, but if this is what true love is…I’m not so sure I want it anymore. It also makes me wonder if any of my memories of our once happy marriage are even real. Maybe I just conjured up the fairy tale in my head because I wanted…no…needed it so much. Who the hell knows?
“Molly just called to remind you about your book club meeting this afternoon.” He turns away. “I told her you’ve never missed a meeting and I doubt today would be any different.”
The door shuts behind him before I let a smile creep across my lips. Instantly, the hurt from this morning flees my mind and I feel nothing but giddiness. I have a book club meeting today, and let’s just say it’s not your everyday book club.
Sure, my husband may never truly love me again…but who needs love when you’re about to get an eyeful of hot firemen?
*        *        *
Tell Me You Love Me is the first in a four-book series called Fire Me Up—a sweet romantic comedy series about a group of sassy neighborhood women who have a serious love for steamy romance novels and sexy firemen. Lucky for them the local firehouse is just a few steps away and is in no shortage of hot firefighters to fill their wild imaginations.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have to say, like most women, a man in uniform does it for me.  And well, this book has lots of them.  Hot and sweaty firemen!

Liz and her friends meet for a book club and they have made it a new tradition to go to the hill to watch their local firefighters training.

Liz is married, but not very happily.  She is no longer the trophy wife her husband married and treats her poorly.  She meets Ryan, the newest firefighter and there is a connection.  She would never cheat on her husband but she can't deny the attraction and the connection.

Their friendship blossoms and we find that Liz and Ryan are struggling to keep their friendship, just that, a friendship.

I liked Liz and Ryan for numerous reasons.  In so many books today, cheating is acceptable, I liked that they respect that Liz was married. Both Ryan and Liz had childhoods that left much to be desired but accepted their challenges and made their adult lives better for it.  I also like that this wasn't an alpha male sweeps in to save the girl! Liz is a strong woman who, with the help of her friends can make her life fulfilling.

Their relationship is so multi-layered, starting as friendship and becoming more.  I like that there isn't instant love in this book.  We see their relationship build from the ground up.

I look forward to getting to know all of the firefighters and Liz's friend in future book.

Rating: 3.5/5
This is what I was envisioning while reading this book!

Finding Eden

Finding Eden
By Mia Sheridan
Self Published
October 5, 2014
Kindle Edition

This book is the companion book to Becoming Calder also by Mia Sheridan.  Read my review here...http://tinyurl.com/mkmdkpw

I am about to make a bold statement here but believe me when I say I don't say it lightly...this book is the BEST book ever!  In conjunction with Becoming Calder, this series absolutely, positively blows away all other books I have ever read.

Remember a few weeks back on facebook when everyone was challenged to tell their top 10 books of all time?  I want to go back and do it all over again, because this series has taken the #1 spot!

Mia Sheridan deserves every bit of success with this book.  She has written a book with such grace, detail and raw emotion that I can barely express my feelings appropriately.

There is a scene in this book that will break you apart and put you back together with in a few pages. It is the most incredibly heart breaking and heart wrenching scene I have ever read...ever.  I can only imagine what Mia was feeling when she wrote this.  This scene and many others in this series will have you crying, no bawling your eyes out! Calder and Eden's love story is EPIC!

I am afraid to go into too much detail with the story because everyone deserves to read this book with the wonder and amazement it deserves.  Once you read Becoming Calder you will find it necessary to begin this book, immediately.  I don't mind a cliffhanger but the fact that Finding Eden is waiting for you to read immediately after will make your life a little happier. (I did have to wait a few weeks but it was worth every second of waiting). I hadn't even recovered from my Becoming Calder book hangover when I received Finding Eden.

This book is so different than all the other romance books out there, it ventures into the what if's in life that we all ponder.  The guilt of moving on, letting go and having a better life haunts these two but with the grace of their love and determination their lives become intertwined through the years.  I was almost sad to see the story end because I had become so emotionally involved with these characters, I wanted them to come to my house for dinner and hang out with me!

I read a lot of romance books and I have to say only a few of them stay in your mind forever...Christian and Anna, Archer and Bree, Holder and Sky, Colton and Rylee...add Calder and Eden to that list of couples that will forever be in your heart.

If I could give this book 100 stars I would, but the best I can do is 5/5 stars.

Mia Sheridan, congrats on such a beautiful story of love, acceptance, triumph and life!

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Becoming Calder

Becoming Calder
By Mia Sheridan

314 pages
Kindle Edition

There is a place in modern day America with no electricity, no plumbing, and no modern conveniences. In this place, there is no room for dreams, no space for self-expression, and no tolerance for ambition.

In this place, there is a boy with the body of a god and the heart of a warrior. He is strong and faithful and serves his family honorably. But he dares to dream of more.

In this place, there is a girl with the face of an angel and a heart full of courage. To her family, she is the vision of obedient perfection. But she dares to want that which she has been told can never be hers.

Becoming Calder is the story of good versus evil, fear versus bravery, and the truth that the light of love has always found its way into even the darkest of places . . . From the beginning of time, to the end of the world.

THIS IS THE FIRST PART IN A TWO-PART SIGN OF LOVE SERIES INSPIRED BY AQUARIUS. THE SECOND PART, FINDING EDEN, RELEASES SIMULTANEOUSLY. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and graphic sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have met some amazing characters in the Sign of Love Series...Archer, Leo and Carson.  As much as I loved them, Calder may have taken the top of the list for me.

Growing up in a cult was all that Calder knew.  Until the fateful day he see's Eden, the world shifts for him.  He may only be a young boy but he knows that Eden will be a significant person in his life.

The life in which Calder leads is about working for the better of his community without question. Living without power, indoor plumbing, modern medicine and simple pleasures like candy. As a child and young man, Calder begins to question all he has been taught and  has a feeling that Acadia isn't what their leader claims it to be.

The friendship that blossoms between the two is known to be wrong.  Calder knows that his feeling for Eden can not be returned. Eden was brought to Acadia with the intent to be married to their leader when she comes of age. But even with only the occasional glance, the connection is made. The morning glory's that Calder leaves for Eden to find and the butterscotch candies, she leaves for Calder is sometimes the only interaction they have with each other.

"Morning glory.  As pretty as a flower, as strong as a weed."

Calder and Eden find their private oasis, a spring hidden from others that they can call their own.  It's at this spring they learn about each other, from each other and make plans for a life outside of Acadia.

Calder-
“I’m going to take you away from here, to a place where my bed is your bed, and my home is your home. And in that place, I’ll never be more than an arm’s reach from you.”

Eden-
"How could this be a sin when my heart was bursting with love for this strong, kind, incredible boy- the one who had taught me all the things brave and beautiful?  How could this be a sin when it was the most joyful moment of my life?"

I found this book to be a mix of sadness, triumph, love, hate, bliss, despair, joy and misery.

These two children are living in a life that has no happy ending.  They are destined, per their leader, to die and go to Elysium.  It's not an if but a when.  To live your life with your impending death that will come once Eden and Hector marry, is something that I can't imagine knowing is coming,

To find joy and happiness in Acadia is something that most can not find, but Calder and Eden have made it possible.  This heart wrenching story will haunt you for days to come.  The need to read Finding Eden will over take your thoughts, so when you purchase this book, just go ahead and get Finding Eden because you will NEED to know how their story ends.

This book at times, took my breath away. I cried and had to put my kindle down because I couldn't go on.  Mia Sheridan has absolutely outdone herself and has made this book (and Finding Eden) on my top 5 of my all time favorite books...EVER...

Becoming Calder and Finding Eden will both be release simultaneously on October 5.  If you are able, you need to schedule a day off, call in sick and charge your kindle, because these books could possibly be the best books you will read this year.

Ignited: A Most Wanted Novel by J. Kenner

Synopsis:
He promised to take me as far as I could go—and I wanted to go to the edge.

My whole life has been a cover, a con, a lie. I was born into the grift, raised on the thrill of playing someone I’m not. As a rule, I never let anyone get too close—until Cole August makes it impossible for me to stay away.

Cole is tough, sexy, and intensely loyal, yet his secrets are dark and his scars run deep. Not many women can handle his past, or the truth behind his fierce demands. But something about him beckons me—and our desire is a game I must play.

I know he’s dangerous, that even his touch is trouble, but what is passion without a little risk?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tyler Sharp, Cole August and Evan Black make up the Three Knights.  Evan's fiance Angelina's best friend is Kat.  By association with Angelina she has become friends with the "knights".  From afar, she has been noticing Cole.  She explains him best..

"He was sex on a stick- and all I wanted was to taste him."

Kat will do anything to get Cole into her bed.  She is one determined girl.
With a past as a con artist, she knows how to manipulate situations and that's her ultimate plan, be the woman in Cole's life.  Turns out no manipulation is necessary, Cole has his eye on her too.

Kat has made the decision to leave her old life behind and start fresh and new.  She buys her own home and is finally making the changes necessary to begin anew.  As the story continues a plot twist change where I though the story may go.  J. Kenner kept me guessing throughout the book.

Both these characters have come from broken childhoods that have had a significant impact who they are in their adult lives and dealing with the aftermath of these childhood make it impossible to be together.  Both Kat and Cole have to learn to come to terms with their lives to be the right person for each other.

One of my favorite aspects of this book was the fact that Cole was African American. We rarely see strong, black men in our romance books.

Rules? Who gives a shit?

Rules are there to be broken and I'm the king of breaking them.

But even the king can be bought to his knees. I'm sidelined with an injury that changes everything.

And suddenly I'm left thinking that maybe my life isn't so perfect after all...

Volume 2 Synopsis

I’m so fucking pissed off that she would do this to me.

I really thought we had something, but instead, I’m left feeling like an idiot.

All I want to do is go back home and forget the last few weeks ever happened, but I’m stuck in this stupid country teaching tennis to spoiled rich kids who care less about playing than I do.

All I want to do is forget about her.

But things are never that easy, are they?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As you may have seen, the new trend we are seeing in books lately? Serial novellas. Some people may not like them, but I am not one of those people.  I enjoy a quick story and I actually love that Missy Johnson has the next volumes being released within a few weeks of each other.

Both Volume one and two are under 100 pages and are quick reads.  After reading a "long" book, 6-8 hours, I find it a nice change of pace.

We are introduced to Ryder and his bad attitude on page on.  And it only gets better from there.  Ryder is a man whore who within minutes of the beginning of the book has 4 ready, willing and able girls in his room and he's about to take advantage of his stardom...but what happens will have you laughing out loud.

After a little "incident" Ryder finds himself unable to play tennis.  He begins to find time for the things he has been neglecting...his fan mail.  He receives a letter from Jake, an X fan, that changes Ryder's life.

Ryder's mom, Scarlett, never expected a call from Ryder.  That call will change and Jake's letter to Ryder will change their lives.

Volume one begin the friendship between Ryder, Scarlett and Jake.  Ryder becomes a caring and thoughtful person and begins to open up about his life with Scarlett.

Volume one also ends is one heck of a cliffhanger, but don't worry...Volume 2 is out and you can right to reading it!

Volume Two

Ryder's life has been turned upside down by Scarlett and Jake.  With some mis communication between Ryder and Scarlett we are unsure that their "relationship" will continue.

We see the softer side of Ryder in Volume 2.  I like to see the man-whore, jerky guy show that he can change when the right girl comes along...there is hope for those men.

The twists and turns that come about in Volume 2 isn't what I was expecting, at all!  Missy has thrown a curve ball in this story and I can't wait to see how it all ends

WHAT IF

What If
By Rebecca Donovan
352 Pages
Kindle Edition
Release Date: September 16, 2014

Synopsis

What if you had a second chance to meet someone for the first time?

Cal Logan is shocked to see Nicole Bentley sitting across from him at a coffee shop thousands of miles from their hometown.

After all, no one has seen or heard from her since they graduated over a year ago.

Except this girl isn't Nicole.

She looks exactly like Cal's shy childhood crush, but her name is Nyelle Preston and she has no idea who he is. This girl is impulsive and daring, her passion for life infectious. The complete opposite of Nicole. Cal finds himself utterly fascinated-and falling hard. But Nyelle is also extremely secretive. And the closer he comes to finding out what she's hiding, the less he wants to know.

When the secrets from the past and present collide, one thing becomes clear: Nothing is what it seems.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I do have to preface this review by saying this...I began reading, like a maniac, 2 years ago.  One of the first series I ever read was The Breathing Series by Rebecca Donovan.  I have ALWAYS suggested books to friends.  I have to say, I ALWAYS recommend The Breathing Series. So that being said, when I was given the opportunity to read this book, prior to it's release, I just about wept.  I find Rebecca Donovan's writing entrancing. She captivates her readers and hooks them in.  So with that being said...here is my review.

This book could possibly be my favorite read of the year!  Rebecca has taken a few characters from their childhood to adulthood and brought you into their friendship, heart aches, and turmoil that is their lives.

Rae, Richelle and Cal, friends since they were practically babies.  The June before fourth grade, Nicole moves in next door to Richelle.  The quartet become instant friends.

Nicole, however, has a little different life than the other kids in the neighborhood.  Her father rules with an iron fist, her mother is stuck in the 1950's, meeting her husband at the door with his slippers and pipe.  While Nicole is expected to be the perfect little girl.  Not to get dirty, to be home waiting on her father's arrival.  It's a weird scenario for the other kids but Richelle takes Nicole under her wing and allows Nicole to just be "one of the guys".

"Go clean up and change before your father gets home...we're supposed to make him happy, not disappointed in us."

Their friendship blossoms we are able to see their friendship grown as they get older. They need each other.

Their relationships change over the years but the What if's are still there.  Once away at college,  Cal has become quite the ladies man.  He meets this unique, quirky girl named Nyelle who captures his interest.  But Cal can't keep track of her.  She just shows up every once in a while but she's a force to be reckoned with and Cal is captivated by her."

Cal-
"I am looking for the girl I'll regret if I let her go."

I found Nyelle to be a refreshing character who made me laugh, more than once.  That's one of the great things about this book, is that there is humor throughout the book, which made me love it even more.

Cal-
"Why do you call it the frosting tree?

Nyelle-
She thrusts her arm, elbow-deep, into her jacket pocket and pulls out a tub of vanilla frosting.

"I like to have something sweet while, I am thinking."

We all have those What If moments.  This book is riddled with What If moments and that is what makes it so true to life.

Rebecca has taken this story, told it in a few different characters point of view, has woven a story with twists and turns. She has such a unique way of capturing your attention, from page one and keeping you intertwined with these characters, it's brilliant.

This story is so unique and different than most of the books out there today. I love a good "alpha male/bad boy falls in love with an innocent girl" book every once in a while, but this book will have you thinking about life and YOUR What if's. It's such a refreshing change from the norm in the book world right now. (Not that I don't like those books because believe me, I do!)

I need to thank Rebecca Donovan for once again, making me absolutely obsessed with a book!

This book was emotionally brutal, smile inducing and a belly laughing sweet story that spans years. You will want to read this book again, immediately after you finish.  I guarantee, it's a different read the second time around.

As you may have guessed, I give this book 5/5 stars and I would give it more if possible.  Please take the time to download this book on September 16 and fall in love with Rebecca Donovan's writing and if you haven't read the Breathing Series, please go to amazon, right now, and download them all.  But first, get this book and devour it!

I was given an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. *But I have to say that if I hadn't gotten an ARC, I would have been stalking Amazon on September 16 for this book anyway!*

About the Author:
Optimism seeps from every pore of my body. I truly believe what’s supposed to happen… will. In that regard, I don’t know how to give up; it’s not part of my biological make-up.

I’m a passionate (and some would say overly enthusiastic) individual. I learn by doing (and have been burned more times than I’d like to admit). But I will always throw my entire self into whatever I do–fail or succeed.

I think this is evident when I write. I leave nothing behind, and spill it all out onto the pages. I give it all to my readers – love it or hate it.

The path I’m on is very often my own. Sometimes I veer off at the sight of something more interesting or captivating and get caught in the vines and thorns in order to experience the beauty and intrigue others often pass by. And I always meet the most interesting people along the way…

Synopsis:

Melanie Winters and Daniel Montgomery shared a love most only dream of, a love they believed bonded them together for life.

When their world is shattered by the tragic loss of their daughter, overwhelming grief and misguided guilt distorts the truth, and their relationship ends in uncertainty and unanswered questions.

For nine years, they drift through life, each unable to forget the one who holds the strings to their heart. In an attempt to escape the pain of her past, Melanie finds herself trapped in a loveless marriage, while Daniel loses himself in a career that means nothing without Melanie by his side.

Now, when their lives again intersect, neither can deny the connection they felt so long ago. But will the power that drew them together be enough to heal the wounds from their past, and will they have the courage to overcome the insecurities and fears that threaten to keep them apart?

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I actually read this book last year and when AL Jackson decided to so a re-release with a new cover, I was so excited to get to read this book again.

This book is written so beautifully.  Melanie and Daniel have an epic romance.  Their lives are drastically changed when they lose their daughter.  They allowed others to dictate how they should react and behave. The mis-communication, changed their lives forever.

Melanie has just drifted through the past nine years, barely hanging on, believing that Daniel didn't want her.  She was damaged.  She had given herself to Nicholas, her nasty, domineering and undeserving husband.

Daniel has also been just getting by.  He believes that Melanie doesn't want him. His thoughts are always with Melanie.  He hasn't moved on but has had a few trysts in his day.  Vanessa, a girl he hooked up with a few months ago has come back and has a twist for Daniel and Melanie.

Melanie...

"It's like we share the same soul, and when we're apart, each half is looking for the other."

Daniel...

Melanie's body fit mine as if we'd been carved from the same stone, each made for the other.

AL has captured all of the emotions these characters were feeling, from the past and the present and brought you into the story...she PULLED me in within the first few chapters. With both Melanie and Daniel telling their stories from the past and present you can totally feel what they are feeling.  Your hear breaks when their hearts are breaking.  The angst in this book is palpable. Fate brings them back together, but can they have the happily ever after?  You will begin this book and finish it no matter what time of day it is, or if you need to be cooking dinner, or doing laundry, because you won't be able to put it down. Your need to know how it ends is overwhelming.

Grab your tissues when you begin this book, they will be necessary.

Thank you AL Jackson for having a new cover and reminding me what a great love store you have with Melanie and Daniel.

Uncivilized

Uncivilized
By: Sawyer Bennett
Published by: Big Dog Books, LLC
Release Date: September 8, 2014
Kindle Edition
326 pages
Erotic Adult Contemporary

**Warning: This book is a wild, sexy beast of a read. 18+**

Putting a woman on her knees before me is what really makes my cock hard. I fuck with dominant force and absolute control. I demand complete surrender from my conquests.

Savage man, loner, warrior… I am dangerous at my core. I have lived amidst the untamed wild of the rainforest, in a society that reveres me and where every woman falls before me in subjugation.

Now I’ve been discovered. Forced to return to a world that I have forgotten about and to a culture that is only vaguely familiar to my senses.

Dr. Moira Reed is an anthropologist who has been hired to help me transition back into modern society. It’s her job to smooth away my rough edges… to teach me how to navigate properly through this new life of mine. She wants to tame me.

She’ll never win.

I am wild, free and raw, and the only thing I want from the beautiful Moira Reed is to fuck her into submission.

She wants it, I am certain.

I will give it to her soon.

Yes, very soon, I will become the teacher and she will become my student. And when I am finished showing her body pleasure like no other, she’ll know what it feels like to be claimed by an uncivilized man.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WOW!  You must read this disclaimer on this book before reading it!  It is graphic and it is GOOD.

Sawyer took on a pretty hard story to get people to understand.  Taking in an uncivilized man into a civilized world and expecting him to assimilate.  Zach does fight it for a while, but having Moira there to help ease him into the "real" world helps make it a little easier.

The moment their eyes meet there is a connection, but Zach doens't want to go "home" with Moira.  He complies with the wishes of his adoptive father to return to the United States but isn't happy at all about it. He makes a promise to his adoptive father that he will go to American for one year, ONLY!

Moira does what she can to help make the change easier for Zach.  Offering to let him chose what he wants to learn about in this new world.  He is a man after all and of course he says...SEX. Moira knows that this will be the downfall of her professional relationship with Zach, but complies with his request.

And just as she predicts, their relationship changes. Zach is a sweet, dirty talker like none other..

"Oh baby...I'm going to teach you how good it's going to feel to be fucked into submission by an uncivilized man."

As the story continues, you see the relationship and intimacy that blossoms between Zach and Moira, They visit his godfather Randall, who hired Moira to bring Zach back.  Their relationship changes and Zach begins to question his feelings for Moira.  Is this relationship just some amazing, ridiculous sex. (Because let me tell you...they have A LOT of sex in this book.  Every which way you can image, they do it. And OMG is it hot and super descriptive.) Or is this a relationship that would make him want to stay in the civilized world?

Zach enjoyed the internet, not unlike civilized men...

"He spoke filthy words to me, courtesy of Google, and it turned me on even more."

I have always enjoyed Sawyer Bennett books and this book did not disappoint.  It has a unique story line and a relationship you want to love!  For a great, naughty read, this is the book for you!
