About the Author

I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO where I grew up with four older brothers. I now reside in Overland Park, Kansas. I'd always loved to write as a child. My teachers would call home not because I was in trouble but because I had a creative imagination and they wanted my parents to know about the crazy stories I was writing. I've always been a hard worker. I started working with my family's company when I was 15 and still haven't stopped. I am a wife, mother of two, hold down a full time job and am now trying to be a indie author. I have a passion for reading and before I started writing I could be found with a Kindle in my hand morning, noon and night. I'm a picky reader so it's hard to please me but I feel like I have a keen eye for a good book.

Get Off On The Pain by Victoria Ashley

Get off on the Pain (Pain, #1)
Get off on the Pain by Victoria Ashley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I got this as an arc and wanted to give her an honest review of what I thought about this AWESOME book. OMG, what can I say about this book without giving anything away, I loved the book from the beginning. I loved Memphis and Lyric. They belonged together. Yes, it did take him awhile to realize it but when they finally figured it out it just made the book even better yet. I loved how the author poured her soul into the book with her words and was about to drag me into the book and feel everything along with the characters. It was so great that I couldn't put the book down. There was some other characters in it that made the book get even better. You also get to meet Memphis brother Alex in the book. You get to see what both Alex and Memphis went through as they were kids and even Lyric. She has a great personality that just adds into how Memphis acts around people. Memphis past is so heartbreaking that you just want to help him feel better and open up to someone. But there is only one person that will be able to help him out with doing that, and that is his mother which he loves with his whole life. And that makes Memphis open up his eyes to what he needs to do in the end. Great story and great book. Can not wait for the next book in this series to see what happens and I hope that Memphis and Lyric get mentioned in the next book so we can see what happened to them after the end of the book finished.

Embers of Starlight by Sonia De Leon

Embers of Starlight (Trafficked, #1)
Embers of Starlight by Sonia De Leon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was given this arc for my honest review. This book was a really good book and takes you into what could happen to women and children that are part of the sex trafficking that is not heard about very often. Tula is a very bright girl that ends up with a very wrong guy for her. Adrian is rich, shows her that he can give her anything and everything that she needs and uses his money to be able to show her that he needs her. Sam might not have the money and able to give her everything that she needs but is really the guy she should be with. You read the beginning of the book and Adrian seems to be a complete different guy then what he really is. It takes two years for it to change and show how he really is around her. She ends up somewhere that she does not know how to get out of since he is being abusive and find out that other people are part of it in the end. This is a great story about love and how to find your actual true love in the end. This was a great story and now I can not wait for the second book to come out because I will definitely have to read the story to find out what is going on with Tula and Sam. Great way to leave it as a cliffhanger for the next book because then you are going to want to keep moving on to the next book. Great job to the writer and can not wait for the next one.

I was given this book for an honest review and I read the book and I did enjoy the book. It was funny and was very interesting to read about someone that didn't know about another country when she moved there for work. It was something that I never would have thought at first I would like being that when I started to read it, it went really slow. It took till about half way through the book for me to finally get into the book and actually enjoy what the author was writing about. When you think about what Paige went through and what happened when she first got to London, it was funny because you would not find someone as clumsy as she was throughout the book. She got hurt more then what she was actually standing around. But when the Jason started to use her and the camera's were always around and found out what her last name was after the first night of her being at the club, you could already tell that something was going to come up. At least she did finally figure out stuff but it took her awhile to finally realize what was going on and what she needed to know. It was a good book and I will have to read the second book to figure out what happens. Very good writing but I think at the beginning it could have been done a little different so that way it didn't drag out and I would have gotten into it a little more and a little faster.

Sacrifice for Love by Vicki Green
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was given to me for my honest review of the book. This book was just as they say, modern day Romeo and Juliet. I loved it from the beginning to the end. It was one that you would not think that would begin the way it did and end the way it did but it has a happy ending to the book that everyone would love to see. Brock and Taren had to go through a lot of stuff just to be with each other but when he shows that everything was all worth it in the end that their love is never going to end. They always find a way to be with each other no matter what. But there is a little twice to it that you would not actually find in the books or think that you would find. Their is lots of love and romance in the book and the undying love for one another. This book shows what you can get through if you put your mind to it and that you have the love and will power that you can just bring all of your families together and will show that love can actually conquer everything no matter what life throws at you. This was a very good read and I enjoyed actually learning another authors writing and will definitely have to read the next book that comes out with some other characters, but I am hoping that she will continue on this story and show what happens to Brock and Taren after all the love and death that they had to deal with just to be with each other.

I was given this ARC for an honest review and when I first started this book I was not sure if it was going to be a kind of book that I would enjoy. I got about 20 percent into the book and absolutely fell in love with the book and the author. This was the first book that I have experienced by this author and I can not think of another book that I would want to start with for the first time by an author. It was a book of love and lost. It takes awhile for Kate and Dominic to finally realize what they had in front of them. Natural disasters are a big tings that you never know when it is going to hit and Kate finds that out first hand with her beloved Daniel. What she experiences is nothing that I would want to go through and deal with. She does deal with it the only way that she can think of and it brings her to Dom which is awesome that she does have someone there that is going to love her and be there for her. Not many people can find someone that is going to stay by your side no matter what. I think this author did a great way of telling the story and portraying the characters. It was an awesome read and would definitely recommend it to my friends. Great story and great ending.

Synopsis

When the woman you love is lost, how hard will you fight to get her back?

Following the birth of her daughter, Kadence Knight finds herself in a battle she never prepared for. With desperation and unhappiness threatening to overwhelm her, a sense of hopelessness pulls her away from the one thing she has always longed for: a family.

As Nix watches his wife struggle with something he doesn't understand, he can't help but feel disconnected to his woman. The Kadence he once knew has drifted into the darkness. In her place is a shadow of the woman she once was, one who is fearful of the impossible...failing their daughter.

This Valentine’s Day, Nix has one goal — to reclaim the woman who gave him everything.

*Please note this is a novella and features the characters from the previous storyline.
The events of Reclaimed take place after Incandescent and Affliction. Book one and two in the Knights Rebels MC.

Excerpt

“I don’t know what you want from me,” I whisper. Communication was never this hard. The distance growing further between us as each day passes makes me afraid that this is what we’ve become.
“I just want to bring you happiness, baby,” he sighs, but before I can tell him I don’t think he can, Harlow’s cries come through the monitor. I move off the bed to go to her, knowing she will need to be fed.
“You walk out of this room, Kadence, you walk out on me.” His cold tone stops me from moving any further. It’s the same tone he used in the bathroom. “Leave her,” he commands, but the thought of continuing this conversation, where we tear each other down, has me fighting him.
“Nix, I have to check on her.” I continue to the door.
“Don’t you dare leave this fuckin’ room. I’m important too. I’m your fuckin’ husband. Do you hear me? We are important.” His hand sweeps across his nightstand, causing one big crash that sends everything tumbling to the floor. I’m frozen in place, my hand resting on the door handle. The room is silent. The shock of what has gone on tonight so raw I don’t think either of us knows how to process it.
“I don’t know what you want from me,” I repeat, closing my eyes when Harlow’s cries grow louder, sending my anxiety rising. Doesn’t he know he’s only making it worse?
“Jesus, I don’t know. Give me a look, smile at me…fuckin’ touch me. Give me a connection that says we’re on the same fuckin’ side. I can’t continue to stay in this place we are in. I’m drowning here, Kadence. We both are, and I just don’t know if I can keep treading water for both of us. You have to help me, baby. You have to want us to survive.” He falls to the bed, his head dropping to his hands. Seeing him like this, in this state makes me realize that our situation is bigger than me, than him. It’s bigger than either one of us realize.
“That’s not fair.” I release the handle and turn, collapsing against the wall. The wind knocks out of me as his words resonate within me. We are drowning and I have to stop fighting. At this realization, my knees become weak. Standing becomes too hard. I slide down the wall, dropping my ass to the carpet.
“Life isn’t fair, Kadence. I wish it was, but it just isn’t. Look where we both have come from; look where life has taken us. We won’t survive if you won’t talk to me, Kadence. Talk to someone.” He stands to come to me, but having him in my space only makes things worse.
“Please don’t.” I draw in a breath, defeated. His frustration and concerns only prove what a bad mother I’ve been, what a bad wife I’ve become.
“Don’t what, Kadence?  Don’t make me walk away. I want my wife back. I don’t know what’s happened, but I don’t like who you’ve become.” His voice is pained, as broken as my soul feels. His confession doesn’t surprise me, but it still burns. I know I don’t like who I’ve become. How do I expect Nix to like me?
“You don’t think I ask myself that question every day? That I don’t look at myself and ask what is wrong with me? I don’t know who I’ve become, Nix. All I know is I should. I should know who I am.” My head thuds against the wall in defeat. I can’t keep going on like this. I can hear Harlow’s cries quietening, as she resettles herself, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting out of this room.
“I know who you are, Kadence. You’re the woman I love. The most amazin’ mother to our daughter, our son.” Saying Z is my son pulls at me harder. The fact that he, too, is affected by what is happening hurts even more. Nix walks over and squats to my level, careful not to get into my space, but close enough for me to reach out and touch him if I wanted to.
“Why don’t I know that? I should know that Nix.”
“You don’t have to know. I know, the kids know and that’s enough.”
“It’s not enough for me.” My hand itches to touch him, to feel his hardness under my fingers, but sitting broken on the floor of our bedroom, I know I can’t. I can’t touch the man who means everything to me and I hate myself for it.
“When did you stop trustin’ yourself?”
“I don’t know. When did I stop being myself?” I counter, and my admission halts him for a moment. He crawls forward, coming closer into my space. His warmth, his calming presence wraps itself all over me.
“The first step is askin’ for help, baby. Let me help you. You don’t have to be alone. Let me learn to breathe the ugliness you see. Let me share the darkness, Kadence. Just don’t push me away.” His pleading pulls at me, pulls at the hatred that has settled inside.
“I’m not doing good, Nix,” I say, looking up and giving him what he needs. What I need. “Somewhere along the way, I woke completely lost and overwhelmed. And every day, it gets harder and harder to deal.” A sob tears from deep within me, and walls I’ve been hiding behind crumble down.
“I know, baby.” He pulls me into the hardness of his chest. “We’re gonna be okay,” he promises, and everything in me wants to believe him. Everything in me wants to trust he has me. That he has us. But the truth is, I’ve drowned in so much self-doubt and uneasiness, that trust seems so far away.

Excerpt:
There are three things you should know about me.
One, I can read a bluff like a neon street sign. Everyone gives themselves away in some form of a twitch or another, and after a few rounds at the table with me, I can guarantee I’ll know yours. So, throw your best fake smile or confident wink at me, but just know I can see right through you – and we both know there’s no sense in betting all your chips with nothing but a Jack high in your hands.
Two, I have the best poker face in the game. I’ll make you think you’re reading me, show a little sign of being nervous maybe or bite my lip in anticipation of the river, but it’s all part of the plan. I’m building you up to expect the wind to blow one way just so I can pull out an industrial size fan and send your shit flying just the opposite. And if by chance you do get to me, you won’t know – because I don’t let it show, not even a little. If anything, I’ll make you think you actually played right into my hand – making you the nervous one, in turn. The key to a killer poker face is to strip your soul of all emotion and show only what you purposefully want the other person to see. And trust me – I’m the lead singer in the band of No Emotion.
Number three and, perhaps, the most important thing to know about me is this: I know when to fold. I know when to hang in tough, when to push my luck, when to bluff my ass out of a tight situation and when to throw the cards down and run as fast as I can in the other direction. In poker and in life, it’s all about knowing the game you’re playing and how you stand up to the competition. And pace – you have to know when to push and when to sit back and let it ride. Now don’t get me wrong – I hate throwing in the towel as much as any other competitive, adrenaline chasing poker junkie, but I’ve learned even in my short time in the game that there are some hands you just don’t mess with… some cards that forever trump others.
All three of these things are true. If you asked any sports reporter, any poker analyst, any pro standing around watching the final table of this tournament right now – they would tell you all three of these things about me and maybe add in a few notes of their own. Which is why I can’t understand why my hands are trembling, why my skin is slick with a film of sweat as I drop any shred of a poker face I have left and push the remainder of my chips forward – toward the one person who managed to get under my skin, to break me down, to change the game, to flip me on my ass and toss every rule I’ve ever had into a massive wood chipper, leaving me with nothing but the shavings.
The last thing I see before I close my eyes and give one final push of the chips toward the center of the table are the burning blue eyes that will forever haunt me, forever remind me that – even when we think we have a game completely mastered – there’s always the possibility that Chance and his brother, Luck, will show up and utterly screw everything.
“All in.”

A Choice For Claire by AJ Harmon

A Choice For Claire
AJ Harmon
Feb. 2, 2015

Claire Larson decided early in life that the key to happiness was money. Experience had taught her that poverty led to misery. The handsome and rich Brent Cooper enters her life and promises her all she wants, but at what price? Is she willing to live in fear and without self-respect in order to have the mansion and drive the luxury car?
When she meets Zeke Dayton she couldn’t be at a lower point in her life. Zeke is gorgeous and sexy but a mechanic with a struggling auto repair business, definitely not with whom she’d envisioned herself.
Claire has to make the biggest choice of her life between having everything and having it all.

Caution: This book contains scenes of rape and domestic violence, and real life situations. Please be aware of the nature of this book. Ages 18 and over only.
***********

A Choice For Claire I full believe is on of the best books by AJ Harmon. It takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride. With every page turned you never know what twist or loop de loop will happen next. It tackles, in my mind, a type of domestic abuse that more often overlooked-- rich people. I say more often overlooked because rich people can cover it and hide well. Majority, of the cases you hear about are lower class people.

To go through the journey Claire went through with Brent grow into a grade A a--hole who got physical with Claire was terrifying. I felt the fear Claire felt when she wasn't sure what was happening to him. I felt terrifying sadness she felt when he did the final straw before she did what not many victims do and ran.

Then you have Zeke, brother of Rachel, there to catch you as you fall. I fell in love with Zeke right along with Claire. He was her knight and shining armor. In fact, his whole family was like her own royalty court there to help her and protect her.

The ending blew me away. Such a great way to end to the ride. I got all giddy and was smiling like a idiot as I read it.

Again, by far the best AJ Harmon book I've read to date and I've read them all. She's an amazing writer and her books show it.

Last To Know by Micalea Smeltzer

He was just a boy.
And I was just a girl.
But if that’s all there was to the story it wouldn’t be very interesting, would it?

Up and coming band Willow Creek is back in their hometown for the summer. For the drummer, Maddox Wade, this summer was meant for writing music and playing gigs.

Falling in love was not part of the plan.

One look at Emma Burke and those plans cease to matter.

Emma is quiet and guarded. She’s still hurt from her father walking out two years ago. She doesn’t want to trust Maddox, but with his dark hair, smoldering good looks, and infectious smile he’s impossible to resist.

Together Maddox and Emma embark on an unforgettable summer of adventures and first love.
Everything is perfect…or so Emma thinks.

There are things she doesn’t know, and when she finds out the truth it might shatter everything she’s built with Maddox.

No one said love was easy, and for Maddox and Emma it just might be impossible.

**************

OMG! Where to begin. Well first I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this story. Reading about Maddox and Emma instantly drew me away from reality. Watching their romance unfold right before my eyes. I laughed, I cried and I got all sorts of giddy during my course of reading it. I mean come on who wouldn't want a badass like Maddox in their life. I loved their adventures. How Emma was afraid of singing in public but not afraid of skydiving. I wouldn't be the same. I'd be dead terrified of skydiving.

The book really gave off its realism. With Emma doubting things because they couldn't happen that fast. I can totally relate to that. I can also understand why Maddox did the big bad thing he did but at the same time I was just as pissed off at him as Emma was, although, I found myself after 2 pages being on Maddox's side telling her to forgive him.

I'd love to see where life takes. I can't wait for the next Willow Creek novel to get to open up Mathias. Micalea Smeltzer did an amazing job.

Definitely worth a 5/5 rating.

Social Experiments: Captive by Olivia Storm

Warning: This is an adult, dark erotic and psychological-based novel intended for readers 18 and older.

Jacob MacFadden is a man with a bright future and a single burning desire - his best friend Yvonne. Since early adolescence, Yvonne's self-destructive patterns have led her into the arms of abusive jerks but never into a relationship with the man who cares for her most. And since Jacob has mended her broken hearts since high school, the time has come for a change. Convinced he can sculpt Yvonne into a wiser woman, Jacob throws everything on the line to forge his masterpiece.

Abduction is only the first step. It's time to do things his way. Social Experiments is a twisted glimpse into obsession as a man takes extraordinary measures to save the woman he loves.

********************************************

I was given this book for a honest review and I honestly can say that I loved this book from the beginning to the end of the book. In the book yes, there is a lot of dark places in the book and if you are not into really dark books then this would not be a book for you to be reading. Jake is in love with Yvonne for 10 years, which he was not able to act on them till it was to hard for him. The means that he acts on his feelings to Yvonne is something you would not think about a person would do. I did not see at first half of the things that he ends up doing to her but he went with what he thought was the best at the time to be able to get her attention for him. Yes, he ends up making lots of lies in the book to other people but he wanted her to himself and could not have anyone else take her from him or tell anyone what was going on or where she was really at. But it is bad when the lie starts to come so easy to him that people are believing it is all the truth. Yes, she did not in the book live a great time and that would make it easier for the person to lie. It is hard when the girl you love will not give you the time or day and keeps going out with other people. I think that this book was able to capture me so fast because it showed the emotions that the main character was going through and what he had to do to get the girls attention. I can not wait to see what he ends up doing in the second book when it continues where it is left off. I want to see what he ends up doing and how he ends up finally deciding on the best thing that could benefit both of them. I want to see what she ends up doing and if she keeps her promise to him that she will not run off and tell anyone what has happened in the time she had "gone away." This was a great book and ended right at the right spot. Great writing and great job on the book!
